Maharashtra emerged as a frontrunner in terms of participation, with a staggering 11,425 volunteers actively contributing to the ICC-2023 efforts. Following closely was Tamil Nadu, where 5,166 volunteers joined the cause. Nationwide, a commendable total of 25,245 volunteers wholeheartedly participated in the cleanup drive.

The success of ICC-2023 was not solely the result of the Indian Coast Guard’s unwavering dedication but also due to the extensive involvement of various civil agencies, Central and State government organizations, Municipal Corporations, NGOs, fisheries associations, ports, oil agencies, and private enterprises. Their collective commitment to environmental conservation was evident in the resounding success of the campaign.

Furthermore, the enthusiastic participation of NCC cadets, NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteers, school, and college students showcased the heightened level of awareness among the younger generation regarding environmental issues and their resolute determination to ensure the cleanliness of India’s pristine beaches.

The International Coastal Cleanup Day – 2023, guided by the Indian Coast Guard, not only contributed significantly to the nation’s commitment to environmental sustainability but also served as a poignant reminder of the collective responsibility to protect and preserve our coastal ecosystems. With such an overwhelming response, the future holds promise for even greater strides in safeguarding India’s coastal treasures and promoting a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable tomorrow.
